General Discussion / CNW caboose
« on: August 16, 2020, 05:26:13 PM »
Good afternoon,

I haven't seen any pictures of the new job that works Blommer and the Tribune.  Do they still use a caboose?  If you have any pics I'd love to see them.

Hi,

Can't find much on the Erie on Chicago's northside, but of all things here's a video:

General Discussion / UP low line to tribune's future and new Metra stop?
« on: January 31, 2019, 12:33:00 PM »
Good morning,

Stumbled across this today:

https://www.chicagobusiness.com/article/20150620/ISSUE01/150619838/goose-island-chicago-model-for-urban-planning-by-2025

Judging by the lines overlaid on the image, the bus route might continue up the low line and parallel to the Metra tracks for some ways on the viaduct.  Don't think I've seen that before.

Also looks like the Northside could get another Metra stop:

General Discussion / Morton Salt and Chicago Tribune updates
« on: January 16, 2018, 04:42:19 PM »
Hello

Looks like the iconic Morton Salt roof will be preserved.

Not rail served but kind of cool.

In other news something big might happen near the Chicago Tribune Land.  From the pictures the rails look cut off near the bridge but can't tell for sure or fully understand what the plan exactly is:

You're not going to be able to recognize much of this are soon!

Here's an interesting article explaining the changes that have been happening and could be happening to Chicago's Northside.  To be honest, this would be good jobs for Chicago, even if it doesn't generate freight:
