Thanks to Tom Burke for sending these along.

I'll wait for him to author some captions.  Looks like Azko was busy!

Thought I would take a virtual tour and see what has changed.  I was surprised to see the Kingsbury track removal project.

New Site Updates / New forum, again
« on: September 19, 2011, 09:33:47 PM »
I'll explain later...

Ok - sometime on Saturday/Sunday, my host informed me that the server that this forum's database is on went down.  Today, I found out that the last usable backup is from 8/9.  Unfortunately, this means that all posts from 8/9 until 9/17 are lost.  I'm really sorry about this, I've never had this problem with a host before.

In the meantime, I'm doing daily backups myself 8)

General Discussion / New Forum coming shortly
« on: August 09, 2011, 06:25:34 PM »
I am in the process of upgrading this forum to more modern software.  There will be a few days of down time while this happens.  This is part of a large scale refresh that will include expansion of our coverage to Milwaukee.

When I get close to completing the process, I\'ll lock this forum and the new forum will be accessible by clicking the forum link on the top of the chicagoswitching.com site.

General Discussion / cool updates coming this week
« on: November 08, 2010, 02:01:43 PM »
Every day this week, we will be posting an article with rare photos that were taken by the Milwaukee Road in a 1980 Chicago lines abandonment study.  These photos were discovered in 2004 while clearing out the Galewood Yard offices.  The MRHA has given us permission to post.

Here is our schedule:

Tuesday:  Dunning Line
Wednesday:  Deering Line
Thursday:  C&E North (Lakewood)
Friday:  C&E South (Kingsbury)
Saturday: Goose Island

Thanks to Tom Burke for scanning them, in addition to writing great captions.

General Discussion / new version up
« on: April 29, 2010, 09:41:04 AM »
Hey everyone,

The new version of ChicagoSwitching is now uploaded.  I converted almost the entire site from table-based html to css.  The site runs a little better on mobile devices, and is a little quicker to load.

Also, I increased the size and resolution of the thumbnail photos from 125px to 225px.  Back in 2002, I was paying a lot for bandwidth and settled on a small thumbnail size.  This isn\'t so much of a concern now days!

We are also bringing back the Mystery Photo Contest.  Thanks to Tom Burke\'s patience in waiting for me to update the site before this cool addition.

Have fun and let me know if anything is broken!

Thanks, Tom Mann
